Description
Devin, a varietal designed to withstand cold Slovakian winters, has been around since communist times. Marek never liked it, but when he purchased a plot of vines including some rows of Devin, he chose not to grub them up. By using lower yields , slightly oxidative maturation and multi-vintage blending his one-time nemesis has turned into a dear friend. Skin contact gives a beautiful deep amber colour, plenty of sweet citrus , tangerine and orange blossom fruit, and a tannic grip that makes it a good food companion. The long finish is defined by orchard fruit, orange and kumquat flavours.
