Description
The soils in the Zeltinger Sonnenuhr are poorer than in next-door Wehlen, and though there is a distinct similarity in style, the wine is always a littler stonier and more austere than its more famous neighbour. But that austerity is easily matched by complex vibrant fruit – juicy grapefruit, lemon verbena, blackcurrant leaf – all airy and light. When the minerality kicks in it begins gently, gradually gathering momentum and building to a long, powerful dark slaty saline finish.
