It is very rare for the estate to release a Lange Goldkapsel – these are normally reserved for the auction, where they go for stratospheric prices. A regular release from one of their best vineyards is a treat indeed, and this one doesn’t disappoint. It has rich fruit: orange pith, ginger and apples join the typically tropical fruit, and the botrytis is fine and integrated, never dominating, all delineated by a powerful smoky stone character, and finishing on a gentle, persistent and delicately saline note.
