From the best site in the Herrenstück, a south-facing site with a constant freshening breeze. A thin layer of loess over volcanic bedrock forces the vines to dig deep for sustenance, which is plainly evident in the complex mineral structure in the wines – spicy, salty and herbal. The fruit is very seductive – fresh, perfumed strawberries are framed by fine lean tannins, and an animating vibrant energy drives the wine to a persistent finish.
