It is good to see a wine from the Lay again: there is something special about the vineyard which gets lost when its grapes are blended into the other Bernkastel wines. It is very intense, deep and rich, with stony broad earthy mineral flavours, ripe golden yellow fruit and a very fine dark slate core, finishing on a bright, smooth creamy salty note.
