Normally a regional wine like this would merit a couple of lines in my notebook before getting on the serious stuff, but this year there is a long stream of breathless wonder: ‘so pure, so delicate, lovely fresh red fruit, floral, perfectly balanced, and is that a hint of smoke?…dark fine tannins, smooth, drive and roundness without the pressure of ripeness, so long!’ You get the idea.
