2016 HERRENBERG Kabinett [04 17] (GRUN20216A)
An absolutely magical Kabinett this year. If you like 'em old-style, then this is for you: it is lean and pure, there is dense gooseberry and herbal fruit and so much focussed minerality on the finish that it tastes dry.

Fine and spicy, with rounded ripe fruit, soft acidity and gentle lingering mineral flavours.

An extraordinary wine that combines power with delicacy and fluidity with intensity. There is ample peachy fruit, a soft creamy minerality, and a smooth long finish.

Spicy, soft and delicate, this shows delicious lemony fruit and drives to a brisk, mineral-laden finish. As ever, a most elegant Kabinett.

Golden berries give a remarkably intense and fine wine with superb balance. Fresh and amazingly pure, this has great elegance and length. Very, very lovely.

From young vines in Goldtr'pchen. Powerful and rich, this is an expressive wine with rounded pear fruit, a healthy dose of citrus in the form of grapefruit pith and lemon, and a vibrant, fine ripe finish. Drink 2017 - 2025

Prolonged skin contact before fermentation gives a powerful rich wine, possessing both energy and elegance. There is plenty of pithy citrus fruit and a distinct smoky quality, along with well-defined cool orchard fruit. Drink 2017 - 2025
2016 PIESPORTER GOLDTRÖPCHEN [07 17] (HARJ30216A)
From 110-year-old vines adjacent to the Schubertslay vineyard. The grey slate gives an appealing creamy quality to the ripe yellow fruit, and there is lovely roundness and length. It is, however, very tight, and will need time to reveal its true glory. Drink 2019 - 2030
2014 SCHARZHOFBERG Kabinett [07 15] (HOVE12214A)
Lean and bright, with very racy citrus acidity, dashes of spice to complement the peach and grapefruit notes, and a lovely salty finish. Really all you need from a Kabinett. Absolutely delicious.
2014 SCHARZHOFBERG Spätlese [09 15] (HOVE22214A)
The elegance is immediately apparent from the first sip. It glides effortlessly across the palate, leaving intense lemon, grapefruit and salty mineral flavours behind. Very moreish indeed.

2016 HUNDERTGULDEN [16 17] (KNEW46216A)
Named Hundertgulden ' a hundred guilders ' because in medieval times its wine was so valuable. Pure limestone and chalky loam soils give an intense, lean lemony wine with juicy grapefruit and very fine salty mineral flavours that linger on the finish.

The south-east orientation of the 'lberg ensures a lot of sun, which gives a rich, rounded wine, and is also exposed to wind, which keeps the wines fresh. Oliver Spanier has made an elegant, vibrant wine with mint and citrus notes and an energetic, powerful finish.
