New Premier Crus in Pouilly-Fuissé

It's been in the works for ten long years, but father and son team Daniel and Julien Barraud in Pouilly-Fuissé have cause to celebrate this year, as 22 new premier cru designations have been approved. Although the designations have taken a decade to come to fruition, the quality of the vineyards has been long established.

We anticipate that demand may increase for these wines, so we are delighted to have sourced a parcel of the 2016s 'En France' and 'Sur La Roche', both newly minted premier crus. We don't have much of either wine, so let us know your orders quickly, and we will try our best to fulfil all orders.

‘I have said this before but I will say it again: no one makes better wine in the Mâconnais than Barraud. There are a few domaines that produce wines that are sometimes just as good…but none of them surpasses the quality he consistently produces.’ Allen Meadows, Burghound, Issue 64, October 2016.

2016 Pouilly-Fuisse 'En France' (BRRA32216A)
Exceptionally smooth, fine ripe fruit is balanced by a pure mineral hit that drives to a juicy, salty bitter finish.

In Bond
Equivalent bottle price inc. VAT: £24.28

2016 Pouilly-Fuisse 'Sur La Roche' (BRRA40216A)
The highest vineyard of the domaine's holdings, with an eastern exposure and good ventilation, this wine is usually the first to ripen. It was hit hard by hail and very little was made; but what quality! Extremely dense and rich, with an abundance of ripe lemony fruit, it is clean and fresh, and there is a fine mineral seam that comes to the fore on the long salty finish.
6 Bottle - 75cl £165.00
In Bond
Equivalent bottle price inc. VAT: £35.68
