The Growers > Weingut Knewitz
Knewitz Appenheim (Rheinhessen)
Size: 20 hectares
Production: 120,000 bottles
Grape varieties: Riesling, Chardonnay
Rheinhessen is a land of rolling hills, so the long, very even slope facing due south seems out of the ordinary. Which it is: forty million years ago it was a coral reef in a prehistoric sea. It is almost pure limestone, and this makes the Knewitz wines particularly rich and taut.
Tobias Knewitz took over the estate from his father in 2009 and is one of the rising stars of this exciting region. Together with his brother he produces superbly crafted Rieslings and excellent Chardonnays. He believes in long ageing on the lees, and bottles two of his top dry Rieslings a year after most other growers.Terms & Conditions | Refund policy
