Helmut Dönnhoff is wine royalty: he has established his estate as one of the world’s leaders, mentioned in the same breath as Prüm, Egon Müller and Keller. Beginning in 1971, he has single-handedly built the reputation of the Hermannshöhle and Brücke vineyards as some of Germany’s finest, and grown the estate from less than 10 hectares to its current 28 hectares. And while exuding a quiet confidence, he has remained modest and focussed on his vineyards. He was joined in 2007 by his son Cornelius, who formally took over the running of the estate in 2014. In recent years there has been an increasing focus on dry wines, and brilliant results have been achieved across all classification levels, from basic Pinot Blanc to top Riesling GG.
