The Growers > Domaine Douhairet-PorcheretDomaine Monthélie-Douhairet-Porcheret, to give it its full name, was founded over three hundred years ago. In recent times, its rise was due to Armande Douhairet, who never married, and was known affectionately as ‘Miss’. She was one of the few women to run a Burgundy domaine at that time, and forged a reputation for distinctive, terroir-driven wines. Her adoptive son André Porcheret was joined by his grand-daughter Cataldina in 2004, and she now runs the 6.5 ha with the assistance of her father Vincent. She has carried on the work of her grandmother and produces pure, elegant wines from Monthélie, Volnay, Pommard and Meursault that perfectly reflect their origins, and they are excellent value.
2017 was an easy vintage here. The domaine has the good fortune to have old vines, which managed the warmth and lack of water with equanimity.
