2019 Graacher trocken [06 20] (SHAE02219A)
We don’t see dry wines often from this estate, so it’s a treat to taste this cool, grassy, elderflower-tinged wine with a hint of yellow fruit, bright citrus acidity and a fresh fin- ish. Far more complex and long than it has any right to be at this level.
2019 Graacher Himmelreich Kabinett [02 20] (SHAE12219A)
A delightfully fresh floral wine with acacia blossom and elderflower notes, bright citrus acidity and an energetic stony finish. It is light, balanced, and effortless: a wonderful Kabinett.
2018 Graacher Himmelreich Kabinett [02 19] (SHAE12218A)
Fresh and floral, this is a lovely, effortless, flowing Kabinett with complex fruitiness and a little salty heat on the finish.
2019 Graacher Domprobst Kabinett [03 20] (SHAE13219A)
Much more power here than in the Himmelreich – the po- tential of the site clearly in evidence. It is darker and more serious: dense and stony with a tightly wound coil of juicy fruit, and a very fine long saline finish.
2019 Wehlener Sonnenuhr Spätlese [17 20] (SHAE15219A)
There is an exotic floral note here absent in the Graach wines; it is pure and linear note with fresh citrus fruit and a very fine slaty undercurrent carrying the wine through to a long finish.
2018 Wehlener Sonnenuhr Spätlese [17 19] (SHAE15218A)
A linear wine of purity and elegance, with a green note to the ripe peach and floral elements. It is delicate, fresh and poised.
2016 Wehlener Sonnenuhr Spätlese [17 17] (SHAE15216A)
From young vines in the newly replanted (tiny) parcel, now four years old. There is forward peach and some tropical fruit, typical floral notes and a hint of fresh herbs too. The minerality breaks through this market garden, and it finishes on a lingering juicy, salty note.
2019 Graacher Himmelreich Spätlese [08 20] (SHAE18219A)
Exuberant yellow fruit with a cool green note is allied to finely structured, almost silky stony minerality, and the finish is juicy and citrus-driven.
2018 Graacher Himmelreich Spätlese [08 19] (SHAE18218A)
Meltingly elegant, there is a stony edge on the nose which gives definition to the sweet ripe floral fruit, and the finish is juicy, a little smoky and satisfying.
2016 Graacher Himmelreich Spätlese [08 17] (SHAE18216A)
Elegant yellow fruit and a playful floral ripeness combines with a rich salty minerality to give elegance, purity and length
2014 Graacher Himmelreich Spätlese [08 15] (SHAE18214A)
Some pure botrytis flavours add to the complexity, but do not diminish its purity. There is bags of energy, vibrant fruit and a clear salty mineral edge, but it manages an effortless gentleness and elegance, and there is no trace of weight. A long juicy finish promises a great future.
2019 Graacher Domprobst Spätlese [10 20] (SHAE20219A)
A taut, dense wine, cool, fresh and juicy with perfectly bal- anced zingy acidity, a dark seam of creamy minerality and a fine long finish.
2018 Graacher Domprobst Spätlese [10 19] (SHAE20218A)
The richness of Domprobst comes through in the form of perfumed, golden-yellow fruit, a dense, sweet texture and underneath, a vanishingly elegant smoky minerality.
2019 Graacher Domprobst Spätlese [05 20] (SHAE22219A)
Harvested this year from a site towards the bottom of the hill, this is a much richer, denser wine than #10, but its energy carries the weight lightly. There is sweet floral fruit with notes of yellow peach, very bright ripe lemony acidity, a dark earthy core and a texture so silky that it nudges the ethereal.
2018 Graacher Domprobst Spätlese [05 19] (SHAE22218A)
A very seductive wine indeed. Dominated in its youth by very rich yellow fruit, it is effortless, elegant and melting. But don’t be distracted: showing clearly below the surface is the power of the vineyard in the form of rich, dark mineral notes, and there is a long, very fresh finish.
