2017 WOLFER SONNENLAY Kabinett [04 18] (WSEI11217A)
Just a bit of residual sugar and the character changes completely, but the vineyard is still clearly recognisable. Here we find yellow fruit, brisk citrus and cool green flavours and again the lean fine minerality so beloved of the winemakers. Absolutely one of the best Kabinetts to be found in Germany this year.
2014 ENKIRCHER ELLERGRUB Spätlese [01 15] (WSEI12214A)
15% botrytis adds a softness and elegance to the apricot and greengage fruit. It is zingy and complex, with considerable extract in the middle, and drives to a juicy, vibrant finish.
2013 ENKIRCHER ELLERGRUB Spätlese [03 14] (WSEI12213A)
10% botrytis gives ripe creamy golden yellow fruit flavours, but these are enlivened by bright citrus acid, and a fine minerality that lends depth. Gorgeously pure and seductive.
2011 ENKIRCHER ELLERGRUB Spätlese (WSEI12211A)
Understated and fine, this gives juicy yellow fruit, lemony acidity and ripe mineral flavours held in perfect suspension. Long honeyed finish.
2008 ENKIRCHER ZEPPWINGERT Auslese (WSEI24208A)
2007 ENKIRCHER ZEPPWINGERT Auslese (WSEI24207B)
2017 ENKIRCHER ELLERGRUB Auslese [01 18] (WSEI30217B)
A big hit of fine botrytis that adds smooth elegance and density to the ripe yellow fruit and lanolin mineral flavours. This is lively and long, and has a great future.
2015 ENKIRCHER ELLERGRUB Auslese [02 16] (WSEI30215A)
One would imagine that the 100% botrytised grapes used to make this would result in a wine that is both opulent and perhaps a touch heavy, but not a bit of it. So clean and pure was the botrytis, and so bright the acidity, that there is a delightful freshness to the golden yellow fruit, the intense minerality and the long razor-sharp salty finish. Drink 2021 - 2038
2013 ENKIRCHER ELLERGRUB Auslese [01 14] (WSEI30213A)
Creamy, rich sweetnees from 100% botrytis, tempered by delightfully fresh, vibrant acidity and a fine mineral presence that keeps it on the straight and narrow.
2011 ENKIRCHER ELLERGRUB Auslese (WSEI30211A)
A fine botrytis adds considerable richness, but fresh lemony acidity and vibrant mineral flavours keep it light on its feet. Lots of depth on a long pure apricot-driven finish.
2010 ENKIRCHER ELLERGRUB Auslese (WSEI30210B)
Sweet and vibrant, with considerable botrytis, balanced by pithy citrus flavours. Very pure and long.
2009 ENKIRCHER ELLERGRUB Auslese (WSEI30209B)
2008 ENKIRCHER ELLERGRUB Auslese (WSEI30208B)
2017 WOLFER SONNENLAY Kabinett trocken [08 18] (WSEI60217A)
Uncompromisingly dry, this playful light wine is full of vibrant citrus acidity, and salty slate flavours. It is cool and quite delicious.
2017 GAISPFAD trocken [05 18] (WSEI74217A)
Never mind the winemaking style, which strives to bring out the minerality of the terroir: this has bags of peach and citrus fruit to balance the beautifully structured, elegant salty minerality, and a long juicy lemony finish.
2016 GAISPFAD trocken (WSEI74216A)
Gaispfad ' goat's path ' is an impossibly steep vineyard between Traben-Trarbach and Enkirch, featuring stony slate soil rich in iron oxide. The wine is dense, rich and mineral, with elegant stone fruit and a long, smooth finish. Drink 2019 - 2028
2014 GAISPFAD trocken [05 15] (WSEI74214A)
Ripe yellow stone and pear fruit, spice, polished citrus acidity and a finely woven minerality make up this harmonious, precise wine.
