Weingut von Hövel en primeur

Back to producer list Grower profile Budbreak in the von Hövel vineyards was not as advanced as in other areas, so they were not affected by the frosts in April. Yields were normal, and there were no problems with rot late in the season. The harvest began normally on 7th October and finished on 23rd. The wines are pure and lean, with lots of energy and balance.

2018 Scharzhofberg Kabinett [] (HOVE12218A)
An intensely floral nose gives way to peach and apricot fruit, and there is plenty of salty, spicy minerality to give balance to this fresh, bright and intense wine.

2018 Scharzhofberg Spätlese [] (HOVE22218A)
Well this is pleasant, you think as you sniff the lemon and ripe stone fruit, and indeed, the first impression on the palate is of a vibrant, balanced fruity wine?then a second later you are knocked back by intense salty, stony flavours and you realise this is very serious indeed: a wine of complexity, power and balance that will take a bit of time to integrate. When it does, it will be magical.
