2016 WOLFER GOLDGRUBE Kabinett [01 17] (VOLL10216C)
A rich sweet juicy wine with ripe golden-yellow fruit, some spice and fine mineral tones. Thanks to the deep soils there is a good water supply, and this was key in ensuring a pronounced lemony acidity that gives this structure and balance. It finishes powerfully and long.
2014 WOLFER GOLDGRUBE Kabinett [01 15] (VOLL10214A)
Beautifully pure and vibrant, this has elegance, a lot of extract and a long, bright finish.
2013 WOLFER GOLDGRUBE Kabinett [01 14] (VOLL10213A)
Vibrant and electrifying, with a complex interplay of lemon and yellow stone fruit, balanced by a powerful minerality that makes it finish almost dry. Drop-dead gorgeous.
2012 WOLFER GOLDGRUBE Kabinett (VOLL10212A)
Bright, pointed and lemony flavours mingle with the pure golden yellow fruit. Delightfully exuberant.
2017 WOLFER GOLDGRUBE Spätlese [02 18] (VOLL20217A)
A small amount of botrytis adds a luscious rounded character to the yellow orchard fruit, kept on the straight and narrow by ripe citrus acidity and a smooth mineral tone on the finish
2016 WOLFER GOLDGRUBE Spätlese [02 17] (VOLL20216A)
Integrated and mineral-driven, there is also an abundance of spicy yellow fruit and lemony acidity. It is beautifully textured, seductive and finishes on a long dry note.
2015 WOLFER GOLDGRUBE Spätlese [02 16] (VOLL20215A)
From a parcel - 'Portz' - which has ungrafted 100-year-old vines. It is vibrant, pure and lemony, with a density and abundance of fruit that is rather more Auslese in style. There is a lovely mineral backbone, and this combined with the tautening acidity makes it taste drier than it is. The finish is bright and long. Really good. Drink 2017 - 2032
2013 WOLFER GOLDGRUBE Spätlese [02 14] (VOLL20213A)
On the cusp of Auslese, this is a more intense version of the Kabinett: very ripe, with a smooth creaminess, tropical fruit and a long zingy finish.
2012 WOLFER GOLDGRUBE Spätlese (VOLL20212A)
Dense and smooth, with seamlessly integrated yellow fruit, complex slatey mineral and vibrant lemony flavours. Lots of finesse, and bags of energy.
2011 WOLFER GOLDGRUBE Spätlese (VOLL20211A)
A beautifully balanced wine: each element is clearly delineated and it is fine and weightless on the palate. Very pure, fresh and long.
2017 WOLFER GOLDGRUBE Auslese Portz' [03 18] (VOLL30217A)
Portz is a subplot of the Goldgrube, with ungrafted vines over a hundred years old, producing wines of elegance and depth. It has not been released under a separate label since 2007, but the wait is worthwhile: it is very ripe, supremely smooth and chockful of ripe yellow orchard fruit and barley sugar with an intense long finish.
2010 WOLFER GOLDGRUBE Auslese (VOLL30210A)
Botrytis gives intense fresh apricot, mingling with peach and balanced by zingy lemon flavours. Very fresh and energetic. Vibrant slaty finish.
2017 WOLFER GOLDGRUBE Auslese Goldkapsel [04 18] (VOLL36217B)
Botrytis is really kicking in here, but it is never overpowering. Instead there is pure, vibrant apricot and tropical fruit of enormous smoothness, and a very long smoky honeyed finish.
2017 WOLFER GOLDGRUBE Beerenauslese [05 18] (VOLL50217B)
Just when you thought it couldn't get richer, along comes this very luscious wine full of gliding tropical fruit, apricots, spice and smoke, finishing on a vibrant salty note.
2006 WOLFER GOLDGRUBE Trockenbeerenauslese (VOLL60206B)
2017 GOLDGRUBE trocken (VOLL80217A)
A balanced, fine and delicate wine at first taste, but this is followed by a surge of power that builds in depth and length to a juicy salty finish.
