2017 MOSEL RIESLING [11 18] (HARJ10217A)
Wow, what a start! Yields a third of normal give a wine that is full of elegant cool ripe pear fruit, vibrant acidity, a hint of tannin and minerals, and a fine silky texture.
2014 MOSEL RIESLING [04 15] (HARJ10214A)
Superbly balanced, pure and juicy, with an elegance at this level that is breathtaking.
2017 PIESPORTER RIESLING [19 18] (HARJ20217A)
Partial whole-bunch fermentation here: the best bunches were put aside and added to the pressed juice in cask. The result is a dense and textured wine, showing ripe yellow fruit with exotic floral notes, a creamy rich minerality and a long nuanced finish.
2016 PIESPORTER RIESLING [12 17] (HARJ20216A)
From young vines in Goldtr'pchen. Grey slate gives structure and purity, and there is lovely ripe fruit to balance the fine slaty finish.
2015 PIESPORTER RIESLING [12 16] (HARJ20215A)
From young vines in Goldtr'pchen. Powerful and rich, this is an expressive wine with rounded pear fruit, a healthy dose of citrus in the form of grapefruit pith and lemon, and a vibrant, fine ripe finish. Drink 2017 - 2025
2013 PIESPORTER RIESLING [09 14] (HARJ20213A)
From the grey slate of Goldtr'pchen. Smooth and elegant, but surprisingly powerful and rich, showing strong spice notes alongside the primary stone fruit.
2017 WINTRICHER RIESLING [20 18] (HARJ22217A)
Grapes from Wintrich tend to be greener and thicker skinned, and it shows here: the fruit is cooler and very fresh, the wine leaner and more elegant and the minerality darker and more pronounced. The finish is long and exciting.
2016 WINTRICHER RIESLING [18 17] (HARJ22216A)
A creamy, finely textured wine with intensity, freshness and good length.
2015 WINTRICHER RIESLING [13 16] (HARJ22215A)
Prolonged skin contact before fermentation gives a powerful rich wine, possessing both energy and elegance. There is plenty of pithy citrus fruit and a distinct smoky quality, along with well-defined cool orchard fruit. Drink 2017 - 2025
2016 PIESPORTER GOLDTRÖPCHEN [07 17] (HARJ30216A)
From 110-year-old vines adjacent to the Schubertslay vineyard. The grey slate gives an appealing creamy quality to the ripe yellow fruit, and there is lovely roundness and length. It is, however, very tight, and will need time to reveal its true glory. Drink 2019 - 2030
2013 GOLDTRÖPCHEN [10 14] (HARJ30213A)
1er cru level, from 100-year-old vines. Very big and dense, with forward elegant fruit and a pure, powerful finish.
2016 WINTRICHER OHLIGSBERG [08 17] (HARJ32216A)
Not tasted. Made in tiny quantity.
2017 PIESPORTER GOLDTRÖPCHEN Spätlese [17 18] (HARJ56217A)
There is a knot of dense juicy yellow fruit here that will untie itself with bottle age, but in the meantime there is plenty of floral and citrus fruit to enjoy, allied to a cool freshening minerality that drives through to a very long sweet sour finish.
2016 PIESPORTER GOLDTRÖPCHEN Spätlese [15 17] (HARJ56216A)
2015 PIESPORTER GOLDTRÖPCHEN Spätlese [07 16] (HARJ56215A)
Lively, concentrated and juicy, the sweet honeyed peach fruit is offset by lively green and mineral flavours, leading to a strong rich finish. Drink 2017 - 2032
2013 PIESPORTER GOLDTRÖPCHEN Spätlese [12 14] (HARJ56213A)
40% botrytised grapes went into this, but there is no trace of heaviness: yellow and blackcurrant fruit predominate, enlivened by bright lemon flavours and a lingering mineral finish.
2016 WINTRICHER OHLIGSBERG Spätlese [16 17] (HARJ60216A)
Intense golden-yellow fruit, creamy minerality and a bright pure acidity keep this perfectly balanced and very appealing.
2015 WINTRICHER OHLIGSBERG Spätlese [09 16] (HARJ60215A)
Packed with dense, cool orchard fruit of pear, apple and quince, this has a lovely delicate acidity and a very long smooth finish. Drink 2017 - 2032
2014 WINTRICHER OHLIGSBERG Spätlese [14 15] (HARJ60214A)
Weightier than the Piesport wines. Creamy floral flavours with attractive pointed acidity, and a rich, powerful finish.
2013 WINTRICHER OHLIGSBERG Spätlese [08 14] (HARJ60213A)
Just 9 hl/ha from the Ohligsberg. 40% botrytis, but the wine is so clear and pure that it's barely noticeable, just adding some roundness and complexity to the many layers here. Zippy intensity, bright citrus fruit, and a gentle fine minerality on a long creamy finish.
