2018 Graacher Himmelreich Kabinett [03 19] (PRUM10218A)
Pure, generous bright citrus fruit gives way to a soft creamy middle, there is a hint of earthy stone, and the elegant floral notes are complemented by a smooth, slightly salty finish.
2017 Graacher Himmelreich Kabinett [05 18] (PRUM10217A)
Zingy, beautifully elegant and fine, this is full of citrus and smoky mineral flavours, and finishes exceptionally long.
2016 Graacher Himmelreich Kabinett [07 17] (PRUM10216C)
Packed with ripe white-peach fruit and a smoky dark minerality, this is balanced by vibrant citrus flavours and a long juicy finish.
2018 Wehlener Sonnenuhr Kabinett [04 19] (PRUM12218A)
Here's a perfect example of why Kabinett is all the rage again. There is so much going on: new flavours tumble over each other so rapidly that it's hard to keep pace. The fruit is playful and full-throated, a blend of floral and vibrant citrus, there are cool very linear slaty flavours and the whole is pure, melting and elegant, not to mention smoky, smooth, fine and very long. Only Mosel Kabinett can do this, because it refreshes the parts other wines cannot reach.
2016 Wehlener Sonnenuhr Kabinett [11 17] (PRUM12216A)
A magical wine ? effortless, poised and pure. This has it all: smoky pithy citrus flavours, perfumed floral notes, an abundance of white-peach fruit, astonishing finesse, and a long juicy mineral finish.
2015 Wehlener Sonnenuhr Kabinett [09 16] (PRUM12215A)
The Wehlener Sonnenuhr is famous for producing wines of effortless elegance, and this one certainly succeeds on that score. There is floral fruit, zingy ripe citrus flavours and a vanishingly fine tight mineral core.
2018 Graacher Himmelreich Spätlese [07 19] (PRUM20218A)
A wine on fire: boundless energy, purity and elegance in one. A smooth, restrained elegance prevails. The fruit is floral and peachy, the backing minerality has an appealing smoky earthiness, and the finish is juicy and long.
2015 Graacher Himmelreich Spätlese [12 16] (PRUM20215C)
Not a trace of fat in this gloriously balanced, intense and elegant wine. There is pithy grapefruit, ripe lemon and honeyed peach fruit, and the minerality is so intense that the wine tastes almost dry.
2018 Wehlener Sonnenuhr Spätlese [08 19] (PRUM22218A)
As always, this is the finest and most effortlessly elegant of all the Prüm Spätlesen. The scented golden-yellow fruit is tightly wound, itching to unfurl but kept in check by powerful, linear slaty notes that develop smoky spicy flavours as the wine glides to a long, saline finish. An absolute cracker.
2017 Wehlener Sonnenuhr Spätlese [10 18] (PRUM22217A)
As always, this is the finest and most effortlessly elegant of all the Prüm Spätlesen. It is particularly dense this year, and shows typical perfumed floral fruit and a persistent minerality on a long smoky finish.
2016 Wehlener Sonnenuhr Spätlese [12 17] (PRUM22216A)
Charm itself: transparent, pure and effortless, each element stands out clearly and combines in a harmonious whole. It is perfumed, floral and playful, with a zinging creamy minerality that makes it taste almost dry. 2015 Wehlener Sonnenuhr Spätlese [31 16] (PRUM22215A)
As pure as it gets: each element transparent and in effortless harmony. There is cool pear, some passion fruit, floral notes, ripe citrus acidity and a fine delightfully playful minerality that comes to the fore on a long, salty finish.
2014 Wehlener Sonnenuhr Spätlese [09 15] (PRUM22214A)
The most backward, but the finest and most complex in the Spätlese line-up. Sweet floral and lemon flavours dominate at first, joined and gradually superseded by elegant salty slate notes. A breath-taking, poised wine that manages to balance elegance and power. It demands attention and gets it. Drink 2025-2040.
2012 Wehlener Sonnenuhr Spätlese [17 13] (PRUM22212A)
No point in mincing words: the wine of the vintage. Vibrant floral and pithy minerals on the nose, followed by pure, generous peach fruit that melts in the mouth, complemented by taut mineral flavours gliding across the palate. Great finesse, energy and intensity. An almost ethereal experience.
