2013 Norheimer Dellchen GG [29 14] (DONN08213C)
Fine, bright lemony flavours mingle with piquant mineral notes that lead to a juicy long grapefruit-infused finish. Very pure.Fine, bright lemony flavours mingle with piquant mineral notes that lead to a juicy long grapefruit-infused finish. Very pure.
2018 Oberhäuser Leistenberg Kabinett [04 19] (DONN12218A)
A balanced wine with the intensity of a Spätlese. It is rich and bright, has a juicy cool green note complementing the ripe yellow flavours, and a gentle slaty finish.
2018 Oberhäuser Brücke Spätlese (DONN25218A)
All the richness of an Auslese in the yellow fruit, which leans heavily to the tropical, but there is a cooling freshness from the discreet minerality that builds to a long salty sweet finish.
2017 Oberhäuser Brücke Spätlese [15 18] (DONN25217A)
A reassuringly similar tasting note to last year's, proof that this wine is an accurate reflection of the place in which the grapes were grown. It is fine, seamless and poised, with dense cool golden-yellow fruit, ripe lemony acidity and a long powerful salty mineral finish.
2018 Niederhäuser Hermannshöhle Spätlese [14 19] (DONN26218A)
There is a great weight of fruit here: a mass of ripe peach, mirabelle and mango, but the brilliant vivid acidity and finely structured mineral core handles it easily. It is balanced, elegant and pure, and there is a pleasing flourish of dark slaty minerality on the finish.
2017 Niederhäuser Hermanns- Höhle Spätlese [16 18] (DONN26217A)
Aristocratic, smooth and elegant: a seamless wine that has vibrant ripe acidity, a fine mineral weave and bursts with citrus and peach flavours. It is powerful and rich, with no trace of fat, and finishes very long.
2016 Niederhäuser Hermanns- Höhle Spätlese (DONN26216A)
To make dry wine, you need healthy grapes. So before the main harvest, the pickers pass through the vineyard removing very ripe and botrytized grapes, which are used for sweet wines like this one. It is creamy, rich and rounded, backed by vibrant citrus acidity and a vanishingly fine minerality. Spectacular as ever.
2013 Niederhäuser Hermannshöhle Spätlese [08 14] (DONN26213A)
Powerful and intense, with a burst of ripe golden berry fruit complemented by a superb mineral elegance. Effortless and long. Quite outstandingly good.
2019 Niederhäuser Hermannshöhle Auslese Goldkapsel [17 20] (DONN36219A)
More restrained than the Brucke, the botrytis is not so evident, and it is richer, spicier and finer. It is a wine completely at ease with itself, relaxed and balanced, with all elements, the peachy golden-yellow fruit, dark core of stony mineral, and juicy ripe acidity, all perfectly attuned. The texture is silky, and the finish builds to a saline crescendo that promises a very long life, if you can keep your hands off it.
2018 Niederhäuser Hermannshöhle Auslese Goldkapsel [24 19] (DONN36218A)
Always a bit more power than the Brücke. The fruit is sweet, golden-yellow and intense, requiring a big hit of acidity to balance it. Fortunately there is no shortage of pointed fine citrus-laden acidity, as well a powerful dark mineral component, both of which tame the fruits power. It is quite lovely.
2017 Niederhäuser Hermanns- Höhle Auslese Goldkapsel [18 18] (DONN36217A)
A little more botrytis than in the Brcke, but there is no sacrifice of elegance. Indeed, it has the typical finesse of the vineyard plus enormous depth and a hint of salty minerals on the long finish. Staggeringly nice.
2016 Niederhäuser Hermanns- Höhle Auslese Goldkapsel (DONN36216A)
A light clean botrytis lends a luscious creamy note to the pure yellow fruit. This is grapey and powerful, balanced by lively citrus notes and a hint of minerality under the dense fruit layer.
2018 Oberhäuser Brücke Auslese Goldkapsel (DONN37218B)
Exotic and tropical, the golden-yellow fruit is held in check by brisk citrus flavours and a broad, almost chalky finish.
