2016 Lieser Niederberg Helden Spätlese [10 17] (SCLI20216C)
There is power, but the overwhelming impression is of elegant, sweet fruit with a fine minerality and a fresh delicate finish. Very pure and lovely.
2014 Lieser Niederberg Helden Spätlese [10 15] (SCLI20214C)
Vibrant and juicy, with well-defined faintly earthy mineral flavours. This is deep and complex, softened by a pure creamy botrytis, and finishes on a long pithy citrus note.
2018 Wehlener Sonnenuhr Spätlese [16 19] (SCLI21218A)
Generous floral fruit, smooth creamy mineral flavours and vibrant citrus notes are so perfectly poised that suddenly you have nothing better to do than finish the bottle.
2017 Wehlener Sonnenuhr Spätlese [13 18] (SCLI21217A)
There is more power and a more pronounced minerality in this, but no shortage of elegance to the floral and citrus fruit, and a complex sweet/sour/saline finish.
2016 Wehlener Sonnenuhr Spätlese [12 17] (SCLI21216C)
Gentle and elegant, the fruit is cooler than from Brauneberg, and there is a gentle, very elegant mineral streak running through. The finish is fresh, citrussy and long.
2019 Juffer Sonnenuhr Spätlese [15 20] (SCLI22219A)
Leaner and less rich than the Helden, the yellow fruit here is partnered with a more linear minerality, and the wine is finer and a little longer, with less obvious power. Below the delicate surface though, a firm backbone easily balances the vibrant acidity, and promises a very long life.
2018 Juffer-Sonnenuhr Spätlese [15 19] (SCLI22218A)
So elegant! The yellow fruit tinged with blackcurrant leaf is vibrant and fine, the creamy mineral flavours caress the palate and the finish is beautifully balanced, silky and long.
2017 Brauneberger Juffer-Sonnenuhr Spätlese [12 18] (SCLI22217A)
Heart-breaking elegance and finesse here: the fruit is meltingly fine and floral with a touch of ripe peach, the finish bright and long.
2016 Brauneberger Juffer-Sonnenuhr Spätlese [11 17] (SCLI22216C)
Very low yields give an intense, perfumed wine which is rich in the middle but has a lovely delicate mineral finish.
2014 Brauneberger Juffer-Sonnenuhr Spätlese [11 15] (SCLI22214A)
Delicately floral on the nose, this lacks the depth of the Helden, but is prettier and more elegant. There is brisk ripe acidity, and a long, juicy, weightless finish.
2012 Brauneberger Juffer-Sonnenuhr Spätlese [10 13] (SCLI22212A)
Slightly more generous than the Helden, with ripe mirabelle and yellow peach fruit and gentle floral notes. Elegant, melting, juicy and precise. Lovely fresh finish.
2019 Goldtröpchen Spätlese [17 20] (SCLI23219A)
Rounded yellow fruit is joined by spicy herbal notes, and a very fine stony minerality that drives to a long, juicy salty finish. Bags of energy here too, and all the hallmarks of great longevity.
2018 Goldtröpchen Spätlese [17 19] (SCLI23218A)
The third vintage from a 0.7-ha plot. The richest and most powerful Spätlese in the line-up, it has an abundance of ripe yellow fruit, brisk ripe acidity and a deep, rich creamy minerality that builds towards a persistent finish .
2017 Piesport Goldtröpchen Spätlese [14 18] (SCLI23217A)
The second vintage from a 0.7-ha plot. The texture here is very fine and elegant: intense yellow peach and tropical fruit combine in a wine of depth and persistence.
2019 Wehlener Sonnenuhr Auslese [20 20] (SCLI27219A)
An amazing achievement. How can a wine be so intense and rich, and yet so lifted? And you're back to Amoureuses. Heady floral aromas are joined by cassis and elderflower, and there is a superfine mineral structure elevating the yellow fruit, well-integrated ripe citrus acidity, ad a silky salty finish. Cor!
