2017 Pinot Noir Niederberg Helden [46 19] (SCLI80217A)
Now firmly back in the stable after an absence of some years. The Helden Pinot vines were part of a parcel of Riesling purchased in 2009. Thomas decided not to grub them up, and has made a red wine 'for fun' ever since. It bears all the hallmarks of the Lieser style, each element clearly delineated and in harmony: very spicy delicate ripe strawberry fruit, juicy acidity, fine tannins and an intense slightly smoky finish.
2013 Schloss Lieser Kabinett Trocken [03 14] (SCLI02213A)
Crisp and well-defined, showing grapefruit and smoky spice notes and a long ripe finish.
2018 Himmelreich GG [29 19] (SCLI04218A)
One of the last acquisitions to the Lieser portfolio. This is forward, floral and ripe, with vibrant, delicately wrought fruit and a fresh creamy saltiness on the long finish.
2016 Himmelreich GG [22 17] (SCLI04216A)
Delicious, floral and vibrant, with spice and pithy citrus flavours, finishing on a long juicy note. Drink 2019 2030
2019 Schloss Lieser Kabinettstück trocken [03 20] (SCLI05219A)
2018 Juffer GG [28 19] (SCLI06218A)
The floral fruit seems a little delicate at first, but you quickly realise that it is more than a match for the intense slaty mineral flavours; the tension between them drives through to a juicy, salty finish.
2017 Juffer GG [21 18] (SCLI06217A)
A model of transparency: there is floral fruit, bright lemony acidity and a breathtakingly fine minerality. This is an "entry level" GG, but has more energy and pure elegance than many grander names.
2016 Juffer GG [21 17] (SCLI06216A)
Perfumed and floral, this is warm, but lean and racy on the palate, with a fresh, elegant minerality that runs through the juicy finish. Drink 2019 - 2030
2015 Juffer GG [18 16] (SCLI06215A)
A typical mixture of delicacy and power here. There is lovely fruit concentration, vibrant citrus acidity and a very long fine mineral-driven finish.
2016 Niederberg Helden GG [23 17] (SCLI07216A)
Lots of stony aromas mingle with cool pear and grapefruit in this powerful, dense wine that is at no point heavy, but has a beautifully lean, bright middle and a long juicy elegant finish. Drink 2019 2030
2013 Niederberg Helden GG [07 14] (SCLI07213A)
Pure, bright, and elegant, with spicy peach fruit and a delicate mineral flavours. It is finely structured and weightless, with a racy energetic finish.
2018 Juffer-Sonnenuhr GG [31 19] (SCLI08218A)
There is pure floral and citrus fruit here, and what can only be described as liquid slate, an intense dark minerality of melting finesse that grows in richness and volume towards the very long finish.
2013 Juffer-Sonnenuhr GG [08 14] (SCLI08213A)
Effortless and fine, but with considerable depth and power, showing juicy peach and floral fruit, pithy minerals and an opulent, smooth finish.
2019 Sl Kabinett [04 20] (SCLI10219A)
Playful, elegant and very pure, with freshness and a spicy cool minerality to complement the floral elderflower and herb notes.
2018 Himmelreich Kabinett [09 19] (SCLI11218A)
White flowers and yellow fruit set off this delicate, elegant wine, which develops pure salty flavours as it nears the finish. Quite lovely.
2017 Graacher Himmelreich Kabinett [07 18] (SCLI11217A)
White peach and floral notes, along with a distinct smoky element, are joined by crystalline slatey minerality and vibrant citrus flavours.
2016 Graacher Himmelreich Kabinett [06 17] (SCLI11216A)
Floral and smooth, with a gentle pure minerality framing vibrant citrus fruit, leading to a juicy, persistent finish.
2019 Juffer Kabinett [10 20] (SCLI12219A)
Delicate aromatic floral notes and yellow fruit mingle in this charming, accessible wine. It is a little richer and more rounded than the Helden, but has zingy ripe citrus acidity, lots of fine salty flavours and finishes on a lean, almost dry mineral note.
