2018 Juffer Kabinett [10 19] (SCLI12218A)
Vibrant and a little sweeter than the Helden, the fruit here is melting and elegant, with a fine mineral seam and a very long fresh citrus-driven finish.
2017 Brauneberger Juffer Kabinett [08 18] (SCLI12217A)
The fruit is floral and delicate, there is a gentle mineral touch, a vibrant juicy core and a long fine finish. As cool and refreshing as water from a mountain spring.
2016 Brauneberger Juffer Kabinett [07 17] (SCLI12216A)
Riper than the Himmelreich, but there is a delicate and very persistent minerality that balances the sweet fruit, and the finish is generous and long.
2014 Brauneberger Juffer Kabinett [06 15] (SCLI12214A)
Gentle, fine and elegant, with lovely pure citrus and mineral flavours. A long, smooth, elegant and very moreish finish.
2019 Niederberg Helden Kabinett [08 20] (SCLI13219A)
Reduced yields make themselves felt even at this level: the wine is tightly woven and you sense the pressure of the ripe vintage at the edges. The flavours are amplified: dark stony minerals, bright citrus, herb and yellow fruit, but despite the density it is playful, light and completely transparent.
2018 Niederberg Helden Kabinett [08 19] (SCLI13218A)
A little more of everything here: there is power and richness to the yellow fruit, and the lively acidity and mineral depth make it taste drier. It is bright and charming.
2017 Lieser Niederberg Helden Kabinett [06 18] (SCLI13217A)
A little more depth and precision to this juicy, peachy wine which maintains excellent balance between the pure fruit and mineral flavours all the way to the finish.
2018 Wehlener Sonnenuhr Kabinett [11 19] (SCLI14218A)
A more serious wine, for keeping. The fruit is spicy, mineral-driven and dense, supported by powerful citrus notes and a fine elegant finish.
2014 Wehlener Sonnenuhr Kabinett (SCLI14214A)
A new acquisition of five parcels in separate parts of the vineyard, totalling just under a hectare, has delivered an overtly floral wine, with smooth elegant ripe pear and apple fruit, a hint of acacia honey, zingy citrus flavours and a long slatey finish. What a fantastic start!
2019 Goldtröpchen Kabinett [12 20] (SCLI16219A)
The deep soils here make this a little more approachable: it is rich, round and powerful, with generous yellow fruit. So far so typical, but then vintage character kicks in: fresh cool herbal notes, bright lemony acidity and a very finely woven slaty minerality that leads to an almost dry saline finish.
2018 Goldtröpchen Kabinett [12 19] (SCLI16218A)
Layers of yellow fruit, bright lemony acidity and the mineral depth and power of the vineyard combine in a vibrant, elegant wine that will be approachable now but even better in a few years.
2017 Piesport Goldtröpchen Kabinett [10 18] (SCLI16217A)
Ripe yellow fruit shading to the tropical in a wine with great depth and power, bags of lemony acidity and a strong mineral flourish on the finish.
2018 Schloss Lieser Kabinett Collection (SCLI18218A)
2 bottles each of Himmelreich, Helden, Juffer, Sonnenuhr and Goldtröpchen and Doktor: an ideal way to sample the individual terroirs.
2019 Niederberg Helden Spätlese [14 20] (SCLI20219A)
High levels of sunburn damage meant faster ripening for the remaining grapes, so the Helden had to be harvested first. The balance is just right: densely structured yellow fruit, brisk lemony acidity and a typical dark earthy core ending on a fine salty note.
