2018 Gevrey Chambertin 1er cru Les Cazetiers (CASJ62218A)
‘A cool terroir in a warm year is a great combination,’ says Jérôme. This one certainly works: there is a base of lean, powerful, slightly chalky tannins, overlaid with fresh ripe cherry, raspberry and bramble fruit, all purity and transparency. Quite lovely.
2017 Gevrey-Chambertin 1er Cru Les Cazetiers (CASJ62217A)
Ripe sweet fruit tinged with spice combines with delicious freshness, the supple tannins are velvety and fine, the finish dense and shot through with dark mineral flavours.
2014 Gevrey-Chambertin 1er Cru Les Cazetiers (CASJ62214A)
Bright and energetic, this has intense, very generous dark fruit, a saline mineral edge, fine tannin and a good juicy finish. Quite delicious.
2013 Gevrey-Chambertin 1er Cru Les Cazetiers (CASJ62213A)
Very floral, very pure red and black fruits, rich and balanced, with tremendous energy and length.
2018 Morey Saint Denis 1er cru Les Chaffots (CASJ70218A)
Les Chaffots lies high on the slope just under the treeline above the grand crus. Its elevation and poor soils give it a slightly strict structured note, but this is a perfect foil to the ripe, exuberant black cherry that runs through to the long fresh finish.
2017 Morey-Saint-Denis 1er Cru Les Chaffots (CASJ70217A)
Les Chaffots lies high on the slope just under the treeline. It gives an elegant, fresh wine with a pronounced dark mineral note to the generous dense cherry fruit, and the finish is very smooth and long. Very lovely indeed.
2018 Echezeaux (CASJ84218A)
From white soils lower down the slope. It is rich and generous, bursting with floral and red fruit flavours, staying fresh and bright throughout. There are melting tannins and a very fine dense dark seam of salty stony minerality on the finish.
2014 Echezeaux (CASJ84214A)
From the white soils lower down the slope. Finely woven silky floral fruit, lovely fresh mineral and an ethereal quality to the whole.
2014 Mazy Chambertin (CASJ86214A)
This is packed with dark, pure fruit, enveloping fine tannins, a salty elegant minerality and a vibrant finish.
2013 Mazy Chambertin (CASJ86213A)
Black fruit with powerful smoky notes, very structured and with excellent depth and richness, and a lovely mineral streak running through to the finish.
2018 Bonnes Mares (CASJ88218A)
Bonnes Mares is known for structured wines, and it certainly needs a sturdy framework this year, as it has come up with a mass of opulent black cherry and spiced plum fruit which would overwhelm a lesser wine. But there it is: a fine, firm core of chocolatey tannin laced with a pleasant salinity to match. This tension gives balance and energy, and it drives the wine through to a long fresh finish.
2014 Bonnes Mares (CASJ88214A)
2014 Chambertin Clos De Beze (CASJ90214A)
2014 Chambertin (CASJ91214A)
Fine, chocolatey and very dense, this possesses a lovely mineral freshness. The perfumed subtlety has no aggressive or dominating edge, but is beautifully integrated, supple and long.
2013 Chambertin (CASJ91213A)
The rich black fruit is offset by gentle notes of spice. There is real intensity here, along with depth and length.
2013 Aligoté (CASJ05213A)
