2017 Passetoutgrain L'Exception (LAFA06217A)
Half Pinot and half Gamay from 90-year-old vines give a very spicy, ripe and rounded wine with lovely energy, fine tannins and considerable charm.
2017 Bourgogne Rouge (LAFA08217A)
Rich red fruit shades to a spice-laden black, and there is lots of bright energy through to the smooth plummy finish, adding up to something very enticing.
2017 Volnay Vendanges Selectionnées (LAFA12217A)
From vines just below the 1ers crus, this is warm, spicy and rich, with depth, balance and bright crunchy acidity.
2011 Beaune 1er Cru Les Grèves (LAFA22211C)
2016 Chiroubles Domaine Lafarge-Vial (LAFA50216A)
Perfumed delicate red fruit is backed by good structure and a long smooth finish.
2015 Chiroubles Domaine Lafarge-Vial (LAFA50215A)
Harvested on 27th August, and showing perfumed berry fruit and marzipan. It is smooth and dense with a lovely floral finish.
2015 Fleurie Bel Air Domaine Lafarge-Vial (LAFA54215A)
Harvested on 2nd September from two parcels: Bel Air, and Cercillon, a new acquisition just above it. It is intensely floral, elegant and fine, with appealing delicate fruit and superb length.
2014 Fleurie Bel Air Domaine Lafarge-Vial (LAFA54214A)
'Ca Pinot!' exclaimed one of our group in surprise. Indeed, it has the finesse and complexity of its well made Pinot Noir cousin further north, with lovely fruit, balance and intensity. Great stuff.
2017 Chiroubles (LAFA50217A)
Dense and pure, with rich spicy black fruit and bags of energy and length.
2017 Fleurie (LAFA52217A)
A blend of vineyards around the domaine that were damaged by frost, with yields of just 8 hl/ha. It is savoury and juicy, with lots of energy and power, and a great deal of concentration; there is lovely fresh red fruit on the finish.
2016 Fleurie 'La Joie Du Palais' (LAFA56216A)
A very steep small vineyard, partially worked by horse. There is 15% whole-bunch fermentation here and the wine is very pure, with ripe black fruit, great energy and length.
2017 Fleurie Clos Vernay (LAFA58217A)
A monopole of the domaine, on granite and quartz soils surrounded by trees. Spared by the hail, the vines have given a charming, fluid wine with juicy ripe fruit, firm but fine tannins and a bright seamless finish.
2016 Fleurie Clos Vernay (LAFA58216A)
A monopole of the domaine, on granite and quartz soils surrounded by trees. There is more intensity and structure here, and the red fruit is full of energy and depth, supported by fine tannins.
2015 Fleurie Clos Vernay (LAFA58215A)
Very rich and black - blackberry, blackcurrant and black cherry - with fine tannins and a long juicy finish.
2014 Fleurie Clos Vernay (LAFA58214A)
A more serious wine than the Bel Air, showing more tannin, greater depth of fruit and more length. Will benefit from cellaring.
2017 Cote De Brouilly (LAFA60217A)
A new acquisition, leased vines nearly sixty years old on blue granite soil. This is juicy and round, with an abundance of spicy raspberry fruit, structured fine tannins and good persistence.
2016 Cote De Brouilly (LAFA60216C)
A new acquisition, leased vines nearly sixty years old on blue granite soil. This is rich, structured and mineral-driven, with lovely pure fruit and persistence on the finish.
2017 Bourgogne Aligote Raisins Dorés (LAFA02217A)
All the clear brightness of a good Aligot? combined with the ripe roundness of the vintage: lovely!
2017 Meursault (LAFA03217A)
Not produced since 2015. The fruit is rounded, nutty and ripe, and kept on the straight and narrow by a vibrant streak of lemony acidity.
