2018 Volnay Clos de La Cave (BOUL24218A)
The steep vineyard adjacent to the cuverie is composed of white pebbly sandy soils and some clay, and catches the morning sun. The wine is fresh, spicy and fine, with pure elegant red fruit and tannins that manage to be both structured and melting at once. A fascinating comparison with the ‘regular’ Volnay.

40% whole-bunch fermentation as usual, which imparts aromatic complexity and freshness. Intense black hedgerow and red cherry fruit, well-structured minerality, fine silky tannins and a long finish. Very accessible and lovely.
2018 Volnay 1er cru Carelles (BOUL40218A)
From old vines in the middle of the slope that catch the sun, growing in deep red soils mixed with chalk. Red soil produces fleshy dark spicy fruit, and chalk gives freshness and definition to the rich ripe tannins. It is long, bright and exciting.
