2016 Volnay 1er Cru Les Carelles (BOUL40216A)
From old vines in the middle of the slope that catch the sun, growing in deep red soils mixed with chalk. It is rich, juicy and fresh, the expressive raspberry fruit is tinged with spice and the finish is silky and long.
2015 Volnay 1er Cru Les Carelles (BOUL40215A)
From old vines in the middle of the slope that catch the sun, growing in deep red soils mixed with chalk. Generous ripe fruit with perfectly balanced tannins and freshness, are complemented by an intense long finish.
2014 Volnay 1er Cru Les Carelles (BOUL40214A)
From old vines in the middle of the slope that catch the sun, growing in deep red soils mixed with chalk. The grapes ripen early, and give a delicate, lifted wine with density, freshness and vibrant mineral flavours to complement the pure red fruit.
2013 Volnay 1er Cru Les Carelles (BOUL40213A)
From old vines in the middle of the slope that catch the sun, growing in deep red soils mixed with chalk. Their age give depth and density to this structured, pure wine, and there is a huge core of vibrant sweet fruit, delineated by dark tannins and fresh saline minerality. It finishes long and fine.
2012 Volnay 1er Cru Les Carelles (BOUL40212A)
10% of a normal crop, but what there is of it is quite extraordinary. Very concentrated but with no heaviness, driven forward by juicy elegant fruit and silky tannins. Effortless elegance and purity, with great length.
2011 Volnay 1er Cru Les Carelles (BOUL40211A)
Scented red fruit with lovely minerality that comes through on the mid-palate. Fresh and delicate, almost weightless, and beautifully defined. Fine tannins evident on the long finish.
2017 Volnay 1er Cru Caillerets (BOUL42217A)
Packed with very ripe blackish fruit and rounded supple tannins, this has density but also real elegance, and it finishes on a smooth saline note.
2016 Volnay 1er Cru Caillerets (BOUL42216A)
Spared by the frost, Caillerets has given spicy dense wine with big reserves of energy, plentiful red fruit and a beautifully long silky finish.
2015 Volnay 1er Cru Caillerets (BOUL42215A)
Intense red fruit with silky dark tannins and a very fine, very long finish.
2014 Volnay 1er Cru Caillerets (BOUL42214A)
Packed with perfumed dark red fruit, this has density and richness, and a long fine finish. Drink 2024 - 2032
2013 Volnay 1er Cru Caillerets (BOUL42213A)
Young vines, all bunches destemmed this year. Ripe, perfumed red fruit mixes exuberantly with lots of fine tannins, leading to a velvety finish.
2012 Volnay 1er Cru Caillerets (BOUL42212A)
Red soil gives masses of expressive ripe floral fruit, then in mid-palate the bedrock emerges with an energising mineral push. Very fine and fresh. A delight.
2011 Volnay 1er Cru Caillerets (BOUL42211A)
Fine red fruit, soft, elegant, and almost ethereal. Exuberant and bright, with plenty of minerality on the long finish.
2017 Volnay 1er Cru Clos Des Chênes (BOUL44217A)
Made from two separate parcels: the lower one with reddish soils, the higher with paler ones. It is harmonious, not massive, but with a relaxed fluidity that makes it very moreish ('qui donne soif'). The tannins are there of course, but they are elegant and covered by the ripe spicy fruit and smooth dark minerality on the finish.
2016 Volnay 1er Cru Clos-Des-Chênes (BOUL44216A)
Made from two separate parcels: the lower one, with reddish soil, was more affected by frost than the white soils above, meaning that more fruit than usual from the upper plot went into the blend, resulting in a more linear wine than usual. There is a pure, clean backbone to this densely textured wine, which supports the clear red fruit, elements of spice, very fine minerality and long fresh finish.
2014 Volnay 1er Cru Clos-Des-Chênes (BOUL44214A)
40% whole-bunch fermentation make this a more feminine wine than that produced by, say Domaine Lafarge. There is purity and energy and a long, delicate perfumed finish. Drop-dead gorgeous.
2013 Volnay 1er Cru Clos-Des-Chênes (BOUL44213A)
The most powerful wine in the line-up: massive fruit and concentration, but still maintaining effortless elegance and freshness. Big, fine tannins and a long rich finish make this a keeper.
2017 Pommard 1er Cru Fremiers (BOUL50217A)
In 2017 more wine was made from Fremiers than in the previous five vintages combined. And very lovely it is, with silky complex sweet fruit, very smooth ripe tannins and an exceptionally pure lean saline finish.
2016 Pommard 1er Cru Fremiers (BOUL50216A)
Almost no wine made here - just 9 hl/ha. Not surprisingly, it is very dense and rich, but there is perfumed red fruit, fine rich tannin and a very persistent finish.
2015 Pommard 1er Cru Fremiers (BOUL50215A)
A very lovely wine indeed. Expressive, rounded ripe fruit of great freshness - courtesy perhaps of 75% whole-bunch fermentation - is joined by serious tannins that are silky, fine and fresh and lead to an elegant persistent finish. With yields of just 17 hl/ha, there is very little available.
