2018 Ladoix 1er cru La Corvée (GUIT30218A)
This is a biggie. There is intense rich dark fruit, mouth-filling, melting ripe tannins and a balancing freshness that pulls it back from heaviness. An appealing tickle of acidity on the silky finish adds further complexity.
2017 Ladoix 1er Cru La Corvée (GUIT30217A)
La Corvée is a warm south-facing vineyard on the site of a quarry, with pebbly limestone soils. The fruit is black, juicy and smooth, with a hint of menthol, and the tannins ripe. This is a complex wine: there is density and power here, but also freshness and delicacy, and the finish is long and lively. Guillaume maintains that this is his best wine in 2017, and we can but agree.
2016 Ladoix 1er Cru La Corvée (GUIT30216A)
A south-facing vineyard that always gives riper, darker fruit. This year the texture is dense, with powerful black fruit with a hint of liquorice, rich tannins and very good length.
2015 Ladoix 1er Cru La Corvée (GUIT30215A)
La Corvée was strongly affected by millerandage - poor fertilisation of the grapes leading to small, seedless berries - which gave concentration but very low yields. It is a generous wine, very dark, with ripe fruit, a melting minerality and soft tannins.
2014 Ladoix 1er Cru La Corvée (GUIT30214A)
Very well defined cool black fruit, fine tannins and lots of energy make this very appealing.
2013 Ladoix 1er Cru La Corvée (GUIT30213A)
Elegant, fine and ripe, with superbly expressive bright red fruit. This vibrates with energy and intensity, and finishes pure and long.
2018 Savigny lès Beaune 1er cru Les Peuillets (GUIT34218A)
Old vines with very low yields are always among the first to ripen, and so were picked early. There is dark bramble fruit, backed by soft chocolatey tannins that carry a punch, and a long smooth sweet finish.
2017 Savigny-Les-Beaune 1er Cru Les Peuillets (GUIT34217A)
A charmer: the elegant end of the Savigny 1er cru vineyards gives red and black hedgerow fruit, fresh ripe acidity and melting tannins with an edge of chocolate, firming up on a long stony saline finish.
2016 Savigny-Lès-Beaune 1er Cru Les Peuillets (GUIT34216A)
Just 11 hl/ha of yield, and the result is beautifully fresh, seductive red fruit, primarily strawberry, bright acidity and firm tannins.
2015 Savigny-Lès-Beaune 1er Cru Les Peuillets (GUIT34215A)
Dark, rich and intense, it is packed with dark hedgerow fruit, supple tannins and a lovely hit of freshness on the long finish.
2014 Savigny-Lès-Beaune 1er Cru Les Peuillets (GUIT34214A)
Perfumed sweet black-cherry fruit, some structure from fine tannins and a salty juicy minerality, but the real joy of this wine is its freshness and vibrancy, which invite sip after sip.
2013 Savigny-Lès-Beaune 1er Cru Les Peuillets (GUIT34213A)
Wines from Santenay are known for sauvage, a heady, bramble character - and here it is, but the sandy soils of the vineyard give a forward red-fruited and beautfully textured wine, brimming with energy and finishing on a long sweet note.
2013 Beaune 1er Cru Les Sizies (GUIT36213A)
Considerable hail damage in this vineyard, but such is the skill of this grower that he has produced a superb wine with great depth of fruit, fine tannins, and lovely elegance and intensity.
2018 Bourgogne Aligoté (GUIT66218A)
2018 Bourgogne Blanc Hautes Côtes de Beaune (GUIT70218A)
Usually harvested at the end, but this year the goal was to preserve freshness so it was one of the first. And it’s worked: the wine has the richness of the vintage, but remains very fresh, with a lovely lemony kick on the finish.
2017 Bourgogne Blanc Hautes Côtes De Beaune (GUIT70217A)
From vines above Pommard, planted in 2005. It is broad, rich and round with pointed lemon acidity and a fresh finish.
2016 Bourgogne Blanc Hautes Côtes De Beaune (GUIT70216A)
From vines above Pommard, planted in 2005. A very long fermentation - it finished in March of the following year - has given a vibrant, lemony wine with delightful freshness and an undercurrent of mineral on the finish.
