2018 Côte de Nuits Villages Clos du Chapeau (ARLO06218A)
The fruit is fresh, easy-drinking and seductive, and the finish is rounded, ripe and generous. Lovely.
2018 Nuits Saint Georges 1er Cru Cuvée Monts des Oiseaux (ARLO18218A)
From young vines in the Clos de l?Arlot. There is floral, redcurrant fruit shading gradually to darker tones as the fine rounded tannins kick in, and the finish is fresh and long.
2017 Nuits-Saint-Georges 1er Cru Mont Des Oiseaux (ARLO18217A)
From young vines in the Clos de l'Arlot. Vibrant redcurrant fruit with notes of fresh herbs and menthol: bright acidity and a round rich middle make it delightfully playful.
2017 Nuits-Saint-Georges 1er Cru 'Hors Ligne' (ARLO20217A)
A separate parcel of Clos-des-Forêts, this tasted so distinct that it was bottled separately. There is warm, rich strawberry fruit with marked notes of spiced plums and clove, very fine melting tannins and a hint of fresh green flavours from 75% whole-bunch fermentation.
2015 Nuits-Saint-Georges 1er Cru Mont Des Oiseaux (ARLO20215A)
Made from younger vines from the Clos de l'Arlot, grown-up enough to merit 1er cru status, but not mature enough to go into the flagship. It is dense, rich and ripe, with delicate raspberry and strawberry fruit, some fine tannins and a pure finish.
2018 Nuits Saint Georges 1er cru Clos des Forêts St. Georges (ARLO22218A)
Always the most powerful Nuits here, but this year there is a surprising delicacy to the tannins, giving them a silky feel. Combine this with a knot of fresh red fruit and excellent length and you have a winner!
2017 Nuits-Saint-Georges 1er Cru Clos-Des-Forêts-St.-Georges (ARLO22217A)
A more concentrated, darker wine than the Clos de l'Arlot, with densely woven red and black fruit, very fine suave tannins and a beautifully fresh pointed long mineral-driven finish.
2015 Nuits-Saint-Georges 1er Cru Clos-Des-Forêts-St.-Georges (ARLO22215A)
55% whole-bunch, and much more structure and density than the Clos de l'Arlot. It is ripe and supple, with attractive sour cherry fruit and a streak of mineral, but the tannins are much in evidence and it will need time in the cellar.
2014 Nuits-Saint-Georges 1er Cru Clos-Des-Forêts-St.-Georges (ARLO22214B)
50% whole-bunch. Packed with sweet dark fruit, this is densely woven, elegant and balanced. There is energy and finesse, and a very long pure juicy finish.
2013 Nuits-Saint-Georges 1er Cru Clos-Des-Forêts-St.-Georges (ARLO22213A)
Both charming and serious at once, it has dark, rich fruit of great depth and intensity, loads of energy and vibrant, finely-wrought tannins. Very, very long and pure.
2011 Nuits-Saint-Georges 1er Cru Clos-Des-Forêts-St.-Georges (ARLO22211B)
2011 has produced an absolute cracker. Dark hedgerow fruit with strong sour cherry notes and hint of smoke burst onto the palate, and great depth and intensity are immediately evident. Rich tannins give a serious note, but it is full of the joys of life, with an irrepressible energy and enormous appeal. Forêts is a sadly underestimated vineyard; this is the sort of wine that deserves to turn its fortunes around.
2018 Nuits Saint Georges Blanc La Gerbotte (ARLO11218A)
From young vines in the Clos de l?Arlot. A very floral rounded wine with zingy acidity holding up a good weight of fruit, balanced by broad stony flavours on the finish.
2017 Nuits-Saint-Georges Blanc La Gerbotte (ARLO11217A)
From young vines in the Clos de l'Arlot, this is ripe and full of zingy lemon flavours and earthy richness on the finish.
2018 Nuits Saint Georges Blanc 1er cru Clos de L'Arlot (ARLO13218A)
Intense, rich ripe pear and yellow fruit is joined by pithy pink grapefruit, offset by bright lemony acidity and a fine stony minerality. There is a touch of opulence here but no trace of heaviness.
