2018 Givry 1er cru A Vigne Rouge (DENI62218A)
A greater proportion of limestone in the clay soils (the same composition as Chambolle, says Christophe) makes this lighter and finer than the village. It certainly is: the wine is lively, rich and supple, with juicy black fruit and big, supple tannins that drive all the way to a satisfying clean finish.

2014 Givry 1er Cru A Vigne Rouge (DENI62214A)
A greater proportion of limestone in the clay soils makes this lighter and finer than the villages. The fruit is sweet and ripe, and more in the red spectrum, the tannins silky, and the whole has an appealing bright freshness that drives through to a long, fine finish. A big bang for your buck, as they say in Beaune.
