Beaune was hard hit by hail in 2013, particularly Cras, which managed a yield of only 3.5 hl/ha. It was thus blended with Avaux to make a very rich, concentrated wine with dark fruit, good tannin levels and superb length. It will last very well, and needs ten years in the cellar before approaching.
2012 BEAUNE 1er cru Aux Cras (CAMI29212A)
Hard limestone with a thin soil covering combined with very old vines mean a supple, beautifully textured wine with elegant black and red fruit, and a balancing minerality. Lots of energy, and will reward some cellaring.
